2024 Angel Award
Opens Nov 15 2023 12:00 AM (EST)
Deadline Feb 5 2024 11:59 PM (EST)
$25,000.00 to $50,000.00
Description

"We need angels who, as it was for Mary Magdalene, bring good news: angels in the flesh who come together to dry tears, to say in the name of Jesus: “Do not be afraid!” (cf. Mt 28: 5). The evangelizers are like angels, like guardian angels, messengers of good who do not deliver ready answers, but share the question of life." - Pope Francis

CFGP's Angel Award will range from $25,000-$50,000 and will go towards funding an innovative effort that promotes evangelization in the greater Philadelphia area. This unique granting cycle is the first of its kind in CFGP's history and was developed to proactively impact the future of the Catholic church in our community. Throughout the application process, CFGP's Grant Committee will mentor applicants as they move through the grant cycle before a final presentation is made to members of CFGP's Board of Trustees and other local philanthropists.

Demonstrating evangelization and innovation will be key components of assessment. In addition, as with all of CFGP's grant cycles, the following criteria will also be used to evaluate grant applications:

  • Sustainability, including organizational strength and credibility, knowledge and experience of personnel and overall financial condition.
  • Feasibility, including demonstration of need, project objectives and methodology and multiple funding sources.
  • Impact, including overall effect on community, measurable outcomes and innovation of project concept.

A few notes about the Angel Award grant cycle:

  • This is a multi-phased application starting with a Letter of intent, followed by various drafts of a full application and culminating in an in-person presentation in the fall.
  • As CFGP aims to encourage long-term partnerships with our grantees, if secured, this grant will be placed in a fund with CFGP upon awarding but will be available for immediate use.
  • Matching contributions are encouraged.
  • Repeat, multi-year requests are not desirable as CFGP’s vision is to invest in programs and projects that enhance an organization’s ability to self-sustain.
  • Face-to-face interviews or site visits are up to the Grant Committee’s discretion.

TIMELINE

  • November - February: Letter of Intent window is open.
  • March: The Grant committee reviews all Letters of Intent and extends invitations to submit full applications.
  • April - May: Full application submission takes place.
  • June - July: The Grant Committee reviews all applicants and extends invitations to final applications.
  • August - September: Final application (presentation) submission takes place.
